Cub Country!

The 2007 Cub Scout Day Camp was an incredible success!
The boys enjoyed two days of dirty and dusty fun at the Millcreek Canyon BSA site learning lessons about personal integrity, cooperation and esprit de corps.

The weekend was divided into two themes.
The Friday session (6-22-07) was entitled "Jurassic Journey" and encompassed a variety of round-robin stations, each with an explorative dinosaur motif.

The Saturday session (6-23-07) was called "Spy Cubs" and was chock-full great activities that stimulated young minds and put their physical coordination to the test. Sadly, it was only on this day that I brought the camera. Never fear, I'll be on the ball from now on!

Here are a couple of denmates enjoying the skits put on by the staff in the opening ceremonies. I must admit, they were pretty funny!

Here's three of our guys (and your's truly) getting settled after their descent from "Mr. E's Tower of Mystery."

No foolin', they had to climb down a rickety escape ladder that I would have never touched even in my firefighting days!

Pack 4684's finest, mugging for the camera before jumping on the obstacle course.

By far, the biggest highlight of Spy Cubs were the push carts. Everyone had a great time both riding and pushing their peers. It was great to see the boys come together to get the job done!

Hold on tight!

Not even the Boy Scout group leaders were safe, as our dear friend "Jello" soon found out! ;-)

Overall, the camp really gave our guys a chance to bond, play and learn. On top of that, the day's activities also helped them advance in their Cub Scout ranks. But the best feeling for me was when I saw the big white smiles on their dirty and sweaty faces.

It was great fun, parents.
Next time, be sure to come with us.
