The Den is in for a special treat this Saturday.
Corey Seiuli, right tackle for the Utah Utes football team, is going to be coaching the Pack on how to play flag football!
We will be meeting at 9:40 am this Saturday (5-31-08) at Stillwell Field in Ft. Douglas. In case that doesn't ring a bell, Stillwell Field is the huuuuge plot o' grass on Ft. Douglas that's near the Gazebo and the Museum. Still don't know? Drop me an e-mail and I'll clarify.
Needless to say, this is probably going to be a pretty physically intensive activity. As such, please make sure your Cub is dressed for exercise, properly hydrated and lubed up with sunscreen. It'll probably be hot and sunny. Also, please fill out an informed consent slip for your little guy, just in case. Here's the link for the form.
OK. Let's have fun and keep it safe.

Custom Slides! (5-24-08)
For this week's meeting, the Den and I came together to make some custom neckerchief slides!
It was a ton of fun and super easy.
Best of all, the boys really got into making them and adding their own flair to their projects.
I managed to get a small video of us hard at work...
When the boys were done, their final products were something to look at.
D.S. did great with the bottle cap and the stingray, but my favorites of his were the Chinese candy and the Listerine Breath Strips.
No more bad meeting breath for him! ;-)
M.S. was industrious as ever. He made three slides from his own stash of shiny knick-knacks. He also made a slide from a toy tank and a Martinelli's Sparkling Cider bottlecap.
M.G.P. chose some of the shinier doo-dads, making slides from an old micro-machine car, a sparkling water bottlecap and a pin from the Moran Eye Center inauguration.
J.W. got a big kick out of the bottlecap design. But his pride and joy came from the Pokemon Bulbasaur slide that his dad helped him make. Not too bad!
Finally, J.W.2 brought some of his own trinkets to make a couple of choice slides. Yeah, the tree frog's pretty cool. But the Red Ninja's my favorite of his.
What a great meeting. I hope we can try different craft project's like this again. It's so interesting to see their creativity at work!

Next Den Meeting!
Alright, Guys.
I'm back from Glenwood Springs and it's time to get busy!
Our next meeting will be this Saturday (5-24-08) at 10 am. We will be meeting at the LDS church building on Wasatch. (Wait, isn't it called "Capecchi Drive" or something like that now?)
For the activity this week, we will be making neckerchief slides for our uniforms!
We (the Leaders) will be bringing some sections of pvc pipe and aquarium hose to make the rings that go around the neckerchief.
What the Cubs need to bring are any unusual items, knick-knacks, baubles or trinkets they feel might make a good neckerchief slide!
You know, stuff like...
-bottle caps
-fridge magnets
-old toys
-patches
-buttons
-coins
At the meeting, we'll hot glue the trinket to the pvc section, decorate it up a bit and voila! Instant crafty goodness!
I encourage the Cubs to make as many as they like.
And if we've got a good and interesting enough selection, we'll put 'em on display at the next pack meeting.
Sky's the limit, fellas.
See you Saturday.

Next Pack Meeting!!!
Howdy Parents and Cubs,
Our next get together will be for a Pack Meeting this Friday (5-16-08) at 6:30 pm.
Unfortunately, we will not be meeting at our usual place due to a wedding reception!
So in light of this previously scheduled engagement (no pun intended), we will be meeting at the Stake Center on Sunnyside Drive!!!
This is going to be a great meeting.
Deb Bore has invited a member of our law enforcement community to come and talk about crime prevention.
This is especially important for our Bears, who are required to meet a police officer!
Also, the lack of PM's these past few months have allowed the guys to accrue a large amount of awards.
So yeah, it's time for the Leaders to pay up.
Sadly, Vince and I won't be able to attend due to some vacation plans.
Nonetheless, my heartfelt congrats go out to all our boys who worked hard to earn their loot.
Have a great time, everyone.
Don't forget to take pictures for the blog!

Batter up!!! (5-10-08)
Saturday's Den meeting was a ton of fun.
The instructor was thorough, the weather was perfect and the boys were really into it.
Best of all, ADL M.F. was able to get some great pics to show just how much fun everyone had.
Normally, I'd line some pictures up with a little description blurb alongside. But in this case, a picture really is worth a thousand words.
So I'm just going to let the photos do the talking this week.
Great job, guys.

Next Den Meeting...
Hello to all!
For our next meeting, the Den will be learning about the importance of knowing your family's history.
We will be making family trees and even sharing family stories.
(Needless to say, some of our guys may have trouble remembering the names of family members, so it might be nice for a parent to attend the meeting to help out.)
We will be meeting at the LDS Building on Wasatch Blvd this Saturday (5-3-08) at 10 am.
I hope to see all our guys there.
Incidentally, this meeting is especially important for our LDS Cubs, as it moves them one step closer to their "Faith in God" award.
Alright, see you Saturday!
