First of all, I was sad to hear that the meeting scheduled for this past Saturday (12-29-07) did not as well as planned. :-(
No matter. There'll be plenty of other opportunities to have some great fun this Winter! Promise.
Nonetheless, the ADL and I would like to thank D.S., M.G.P. and J.W. for attending the meeting even if it was a washout. Thanks for the effort, guys!
On another note...
With our first meeting of the New Year looming so close, V.Z., his Grandma and I have finally jumped into preparing the Den Doodle.
It will be used to keep track of the merit beads earned by our Scouts now that the new C.U.B.S. standard is in effect!
Take a look:
Here are the bare bones of the project.
The Doodle will be made from an old CD rack and a cardboard map tube.
Here's V.Z.'s Grandma, preparing the bones with an underwrap of brown packaging paper.
From here, it was on to the paper mache and of course, the mess!
Gosh, I haven't used paper mache in years....
The process is so sloppy that you really need a tarp to keep your area as clean as possible. I think Grandma was starting to regret doing it all in her living room. ^_^;;;
Once the paper mache was on, the doodle looked great.
From here, the next step is to let the whole thing dry and start a-paintin'.
There you go, Cubs.
This is to show y'all that I'm keeping up my end of the bargain for the New Year's resolution.
I hope you guys do the same!
More photos on the Doodle construction are sure to come.
Stay tuned!
