An-young! Korean Culture Day!

안녕하세요 (Hello!) Our scouts had the fantastic opportunity to learn about Korean geography, culture, customs, language, and even cuisine this past saturday! We are VERY grateful for Byoungju and his wife Yejean who took their time to tell us about what growing up in Korea was like and sharing the richness of their cultural heritage!

Yejean and her daughters in traditional Korean dress.

Under Byoungju's patient tutelage our scouts learned several phrases.

SJ holds up a piece of coinage ("It's worth about ten cents!") used as the weight in jaegi, or traditional 'hacky-sacks.' As a final activity Byoungju showed our scouts how to make these themselves using a rubber-band, a plastic bag, and a little weight.

Here's DC's jaegi in action - look no higher than the ceiling.

Again, our very kindest thanks to Byoungju and Yejean (as well as their daughters) for giving us all an excellent and memorable exposure to Korean culture and for the AMAZING food!!!
